August 2009, Party for Simon and Sammi

On 14th of August, our lab held an welcoming party for Sammi Lee who is going to be staying in our lab for 6 months. She is an undergraduate student majoring in aerospace engineering. The topic of Sammi’s study is yet to be decided. We warmly welcome Sammi and hope for a good enriching time in our lab. The party was not just for welcoming Sammi, but it was also a farewell party for Simon Gabor, an exchange student from Technical University of Munich (TUM), who will be returning to his country on September. We thank Simon for his contributions and hope for the best end to his visit to Korea

August 2009, First Half Workshop

On 14th of August, our lab held workshop for the first half of year 2009. Every member of the lab presented on the works they have been doing as well as their plans. We hope for productive 2nd half, and best wishes in all the lab’s works.

June 2009, BBQ Party

On 7th of June our lab had a special BBQ party. It was special because the families of lab members and Prof. Han also joined the occasion. We had great time together playing football and baseball, as well as having water gun fights and some delicious foods. It was fun and refreshing day for all of us.

June 2009, KIDCS Project Kick-off Meeting

One year taskforce of KAIST institute for Design of Complex Systems (KIDCS) includes six young professors in mechanical eng., aerospace eng., and computer science, including Prof. Han as a principal investigator. The objective of this research project is emerging the technologies related to the development of bio-inspired flying robots for surveillance, reconnaissance, and defense applications. Prof. Han has been focused on the key technologies of bio-inspired flying robots, especially unsteady aerodynamic modeling, flexible multibody dynamics, and flight dynamics and control considering the fluid-structure interaction. Based on these platform development tools, we are trying to integrate various sensors, actuators, and control schemes from the collaborative research teams. (This research grant is supported by KAIST Institute for Design of Complex Systems (KIDCS)).

Apr. 2009 KIDCS Invitation for undergraduate research

On April 15, 2009 KAIST Institute for Design of Complex Systems (KIDCS) held an invitation seminar for undergraduate students who are interested in participating in a research. Prof. Han presented on researches related to Bio-inspired Flying Robot. We hope many undergraduate students will join us in our researches.

Apr. 2009 KSAS spring conference

Professor Han and four students from our lab attended spring conference of Korean Society for Aeronautical and Space Sciences (KSAS).
